SideStoke home | Monks start | Monks kilns start

The older of the two Monks kilns is a reluctant performer despite its two bourry boxes. Dennis suspects that the problem may lie in the perforated dome above the small chamber at the base of the chimney. This kiln is used for salt glazing. The object at lower right of the photo opposite is a chair being cut out of a section of Camphor Laurel tree.
