The kiln is usually fired with Yellow Box (Eucalyptus melliodora).

Above: Unusual mousehole construction. Each firebox has one front mousehole and two end mouseholes. In practice the end ones were not used.

Below: Fixed shelves on the firebox side of a bagwall. Bagwalls tend to lean towards the fire so these bricks also help to keep the bagwall vertical.

The damper system is shown above. The damper is a heavy cast slab and it slides on an angle iron frame.
