The Pilven wood kiln was built in 1996 and has been fired 2 or 3 times a year since then, utilising scrap pine (Pinus radiata), Macrocarpa (Cupressus macrocarpa) and Black Wattle (Acacia mearnsii) from their property. Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) also grows on their land and Peter intends to use some in the kiln in future.
